View Full Version : Another PC question

As of this morning my system has been doing some really wierd shit. I was playing FA and all of the sudden I'm staring at the sky and my knife is selected (but not drawn. Just selected on the HUD thing.) I have screenies but I think the description is pretty straight forward.

So I'm like "whatever. Just play it out and reboot later". Well, needless to say, it didn't fix itself. It happened more and more frequently but not out of FA. I finally got sick of it and restarted my PC. That seemed to make matters worse. Now it happens OUT of FA too. I'll be scrolling through the forums and my mouse will freeze and the page will scroll to the bottom or top. It unfreezes promptly but it's still fucking annoying. I've virus scanned and spyware scanned (deleted a little bit of spyware but didn't fix anything). I also defragged my D:\ and C:\ drives 3 days ago. CPU, GFX, and mobo temps are nominal.

So my questions are threefold:

1). Anyone know wtf is going on/how to fix it?
2). Other hsit's fucking up too recently so I'm thinking reinstallign windows would be the wise thing to do. My single HD has two partitions. C:\ for windows and D:\ for everything else. C:\ is 3 GB and D:\ is 117 GB.

I was wondering if I wanted to reinstall windows if I'd have to format both partitions. Or would I just be able to reformat C:\ and install on there (also, would all of my programs not work????)
3). Is there any way to easily enlarge a partition. 3GB was not enough. I only have 170 MB left now and I'm getting annoyed by the stupid "You are running very low on disk space" pop-up thing. If there isn't an easy way to make a partition larger then no big deal. I can deal with the pop-up thing.

Formatting D:\ is out of the question. I'm not starting over again. Fuck that :p

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read my overly long post and thanks even more to anyone who can offer some advice :)

if it's not an optical mouse, clean the fricken mouse ball.
if it is an optical mouse then check for hair or dirt in and around the sensor and make sure your desk is clean.

Sounds more like a mouse issue to me

No, only C would need to be formated, and yes, most of your programs will probably not work because of missing dlls and or missing registery entries.

I believe partitionmagic claims to do this, but as a rule of thumb it's saver to assume that if you are going to change partitions, that all the data on those partitions will be lost.

Back up the essentials, just in case (Hard disks don't have an eternal life either)

And personally I use 20GB for windows, my dad has 14gb for c: and he is running out of diskspace dangerously fast.
